Jim Burton has been successfully selling Real Estate in St. John's for 30 Years. He obtained his â€śFRIâ€ť, Fellow of the Real Estate Institute in 1996 from The Real Estate Institute of Canada and the â€śMVAâ€ť Market Value Appraiser â€“ Residential from the Canadian Real Estate Association in 1998. Founder of â€śThe Jim Burton Sales Teamâ€ť in 1998, he is a past and current facilitator of Real Estate Education & Motivational Courses for Realtors in the St. John's area.
Jim is President of RE/MAX Infinity Realty Inc., one of Newfoundland & Labrador's fastest growing Real Estate companies. Team Burton has been among the Top Producing Teams within the RE/MAX organization, placing in the Top Ten in Canada & Top Twenty Worldwide. Jim holds an Airline Transport Pilots License with 15,000 flight hours and owns and operates a seasonal Airline, North Eastern Sky Services Ltd. with his Dehavilland Beaver Floatplane in Labrador. He also owns and operates Igloo Lake Lodge Ltd., one of Newfoundland and Labrador's trophy Brook Trout Lodges.
Jim is currently Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Hope Air and he is the Chairperson of the Liberal Party of Canada - Newfoundland & Labrador Board. He's also an Advisory Board Member of the Salvation Army (St. John's), past member of the Board of Director's of the â€śRotary Club of St. John's Northwestâ€ť, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (Atlantic Canada), a past member of the Board of Directors of the Newfoundland & Labrador Brain Injury Association, past Chairperson of the Canadian Cancer Society â€“ NL â€śDream Teamâ€ť Relay for Life. In November 2015 Jim was bestowed the 2015 Humanitarian Award from the Canadian Red Cross â€“ Newfoundland and Labrador. In December 2014, the St. John's Board of Trade presented Jim the Community Builder Volunteer of the Year. In 2013, The Salmon Preservation Association for the Waters of Newfoundland and Labrador presented a special award (The Ches Loughlin Conservation Award) to Jim for contributing significantly to the protection of Atlantic Salmon. In 2013, Hope Air named Jim â€śNational Volunteer of the Yearâ€ť. In 2011, the Canadian Home Builders' Association Eastern Newfoundland named Jim the (non-builder) Member of the Year Award. Jim is also a past fundraising committee member for the new YMCA Building in St. John's. He's also past Honorary Chairperson of Newfoundland & Labrador Volunteer Week 2010 and a past Chairperson of the CHBA Home Show 2009, 2008 and 2007. Jim is a past Director of the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation. He was the Chairperson of the Liberal Party Leaders Dinner on May 12, 2014 in St. John's, where some 530 supporters gathered. His past community contributions are many, and include Judge at the Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Pageant 2008, past Chairperson for the St. John's Northwest Rotary Club Gala Dinner & Auction, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2009 & 2007, coâ€“chairperson of the â€ś2006 RE/MAX Concert for the Cureâ€ť in aid of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, past Chairperson of the Cowan Heights United Church Board of Management and Past President of the Cowan Heights United Church Men's Club. He is also a past Director of the St. John's Real Estate Board and a previous Director of the Canadian Home Builders' Association â€“Eastern Newfoundland and the St. John's Board of Trade.
